The Wellington String Academy

The Wellington String Academy (WSA) is a recently established charitable organisation dedicated to inspiring and nurturing young string players up to the age of 25. Founded on the principles of inspiration, creativity, and inclusivity, WSA provides expert coaching, diverse performance opportunities, and a dynamic learning environment for musicians of all backgrounds. Helene Pohl and Rolf Gjelsten are Co-Artistic Directors and work together with other beloved teachers from the Wellington region for projects.

Through its comprehensive programs, the Academy supports the technical and artistic development of violin, viola, cello, and double bass students. Participants enjoy a wide range of activities, including chamber music, masterclasses and workshops led by experienced and passionate coaches committed to fostering both excellence and creativity.
